CAUTIONARY Tale is a participatory installation where the viewer is asked to respond to statistics and questions surrounding the issue of climate change. They are invited to hang their responses on the foliage-like sculpture constructed from yarn, plastic grocery bags, plastic household recyclables and caution tape covering the Artspace stairway. Rexrode continues her use of “everyday” materials and methods associated with women’s handicraft to reinforce the position that there are important connections between how society views women and the underclass and how it treats the natural environment.
